Staying motivated & inspired

These lockdowns we’ve been experiencing, for nearly a year now, have been hard. To talk from my own experience, I, like so many people, have been going through some ups and downs, highs and lows, which come and go almost daily. Things have changed a lot, for all of us, and life is not what it used to be.

But I’d like to keep the inspiration going, because it helps people, myself included, so today, I’d like to talk about what keeps me grounded and brings moments of light and happiness into my life- no matter how fleeting.

What that is, is focusing on what I enjoy!

And I know, this is not always easy, especially when you feel down or when you worry a lot. I must admit, it sometimes takes me a while too these days to even start doing something, even if it’s something I’d normally enjoy doing. I have days when I don’t want to do anything, but lie on the sofa and watch Netflix. But, when I eventually run out of excuses, ‘get tired’ of feeling demotivated and start doing something I enjoy, it’s incredible how inspired I feel to do even more.

Being creative never fails me. It truly lifts me up, even if it’s only for a short while. From playing a keyboard, putting some vocal loops together to working on my next article, getting creative in the kitchen or taking a Zoom ballet class… all of this and more makes a huge difference to the way I feel. When I do the activities I enjoy, I feel better, even in the midst of this global uncertainty we are currently facing.

So, my question for you is this: What helps you to stay motivated and inspired these days?’ Let me know in the comments below this post.

I’m keeping it nice and short today, but before I go, I’d like you to know that you are not alone. We are all going through this unusual time together and the feelings that come with it can be hard to process and deal with. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself some credit. You are doing the best you can, like every single one of us.
