I was thinking for a while what this week’s blog should be about, and then I realised what a better idea then to talk about the things we should remind ourselves on a daily basis. Bellow is a list of five suggestions I believe are important to remember daily. These reminders always shift my energy levels to a higher frequencies and help me to remember what really matters in life. Feel free to add to this list, and if you like share your thoughts with us in the comments bellow.
Every sunrise brings you new opportunities
When you wake up in the morning, thank the Universe for a new day and the new opportunities which are about to unfold. You have a chance to meet new people, to make a new choices, to start working on the project you have been postponing for a while. Every sunrise brings you new opportunities, always remember that.
This too shall pass
When you are going through some challenges in your life, always remember that “This too shall pass!'” Everything that is happening in your life is teaching you a lesson. We all have bad days or a bad seasons in life, but they do not last forever.
What are you grateful for?
Every time I feel down, I start listing things I am grateful for. This instantly shifts my energy and I start feeling better. Lately, I’m making my focus on gratitude a daily task. It is changing my life. Take a pen and paper and start listing things you are grateful for. Appreciate your body, your senses, express gratitude to your loving family and friends, the roof over your head, the pay-cheque which comes every month. Remember there are many people who would wish they had what you do. We often forget to pause and acknowledge the fantastic blessings we have in our lives. Remind yourself every day what you are grateful for.
It’s okay to be yourself
We live in a society which is constantly telling us what is right, what is wrong, how we should act or be…We are rarely told to be ourselves and express our authenticity in the world. We are good at fitting in rather than standing out from the crowd and living in our truth. I believe otherwise. It is okay to be yourself. I used to live in so much denial. I wasn’t accepting myself fully and I was trying to be like everybody else. It was painful. This way of living made me feel awful and emotionally drained. Luckily, I realised living this way it’s only a waste of my precious energy and my life. If you would like some tips about learning how to be more truthful to yourself, read my article “Why I want to be more and more truthful to myself” https://www.mysticbutterfly.co.uk/i-want-truthful/
Present moment is the only place where the real life exists
That’s right! Only present moment matters the most. Past is not here anymore and there is nothing which can be changed about the past. Only your approach towards the past can be changed. Another place which doesn’t exist (yet) is the future. We often travel in our minds to a fictional places in the future, creating scenarios (often crazy) that never even happen. We are worrying ourselves for no reason. Remember that the present moment is the only place where the real life exists. Present moment is your life!
Procrastination can be one of the main blocks we come across when we are trying to accomplish something. I know sometimes we are tired, feel de-motivated, uninspired and overwhelmed. We say things like: “I’ll deal with it tomorrow, now is not a good time, I am just too exhausted right now.” That is completely understandable. These days we also face many distractions, which can prevent us from being fully focused on our tasks. In this week’s blog I have a few tips, which I believe can help you to deal with procrastination.
Break it down to smaller steps
I believe when something is important to you, you will always find a way to do it. If not, you will find an excuse. Here is a suggestion for you: When you break your project (or anything else you are trying to accomplish) down to a smaller steps, it won’t look so overwhelming anymore. It will become more achievable to you. For example: Let’s say you are interested in starting something new, but you just don’t seem to be able to begin. You are excited about the idea, but you are not so sure if you can do it. You keep delaying the first step by making all sort of excuses. What can you do? Start with some basics. Read couple of pages of a book which will give you some valuable insight about the subject you are interested in. Make a decision you are going to invest couple of hours each day to do something about it. Taking small steps towards your goals rather than none at all, will make you feel good about yourself. This way you will also become more excited and motivated about what you are trying to accomplish.
Schedule an appointment
Start making an appointments with yourself to avoid procrastination. It works! Let’s say on Monday you know you are going to be at home at 5pm. You have nothing else planned for the rest of the evening. Make an appointment to work on your project from 6pm-8pm. Once it’s planned, stick to it. Think about it this way: You wouldn’t miss a dental appointment or a job interview when is scheduled and written down in your diary. There are no negotiations. Be consistent and ensure you are fully focused on your project in those two hours. You can do this! Making an appointments with yourself can become your new habit. And it would be a very useful and productive habit to adopt today.
Avoid distractions
This can be one of the most difficult things to do. Distractions are everywhere. Most of us are constantly on our phones, we are checking out social media, emails and messages. When you are trying to study or work on something, distractions will be even more noticeable than ever before. I’m guilty of this myself. I often get distracted when somebody sends me a message, and I feel I need to respond instantly. What do I do to prevent distractions? Switch my phone off completely or at least leave it on silent in a different room. This way I’m not constantly checking whether the screen illuminates, and I can fully focus on what I have to do and finally get the work done.
Give yourself a deadline
Do you remember the days at school or a college when you had to present your essay at certain day and you always managed to get it done? If there is a deadline, we somehow always get it done. Even if we don’t feel like, we magically do the work. Deal with procrastination the same way. Give your project a deadline. This way, you will make sure you’ll find the time for it. If it’s important to you, it will always get done.
Last week we’ve talked about disappointment and how to deal with it. This week, I would like to stay on a similar note. A quite few people in my circle of friends are currently facing challenges with breakups and disappointments, so I thought it would be beneficial to stay on this topic for a bit longer. Breakups are never easy, but they are certainly something you can get over. I have a four useful tips which may inspire you.
1. Feel the feelings
We’ve all heard people saying: “Get yourself together! You will be fine! Stop feeling sorry for yourself! He/She wasn’t the right person for you anyway!” Although these words can be empowering, they can also make us even more upset and sometimes angry. A spiritual way of looking at breakup would be allowing yourself to feel, the way you are feeling in the current moment. I believe: “When you feel it, you can heal it!” Don’t try to push the unpleasant emotions away, instead feel them fully. Feel them within the whole level of your being. If you want to cry, then do so. Emotional release can be very cleansing and healing. If you want to scream, do that. When I’m upset about something I often go to the woods or somewhere I can be alone. There, I scream out loud my frustration. I always feel so much better afterwards. I allow the negative emotions to pass through me, and then I let them go. Some people take a longer time to heal from break up than others. Don’t compare yourself to anybody else. You are allowed to feel the way you are feeling right now. Don’t be hard on yourself, instead be compassionate towards yourself.
2. It’s a lesson
Ask yourself: “What can I learn from this situation?” Have you ever noticed repeating certain patterns in your relationships? Breakup can give you an opportunity to notice and explore the repetitive mistakes. For example: being too needy, too giving, too clingy, even forgetting about yourself and your hobbies when you are in a relationship… Try to identify an unhelpful patterns in your relationships and become more aware of them. Ask yourself: “How can I see this differently? How can I do things differently next time?” Listen to your intuitive voice for any direction. Notice any visions and feelings coming forward. Becoming aware of your old patterns in a relationships can be a very healing transformation.
3. A quick jump into a new relationship is not a solution
Although some people may be ready to start a new relationship straight away, I believe it is not a solution. People have a tendency to always be with somebody, to have the other half they can rely on. As this seem very comforting and beautiful, starting a relationship because you have just broken up with someone and don’t want to be alone can be the wrong thing to do. Frankly, it is not fair towards your new partner either. Some people are just too scared to be on their own for a while. I believe otherwise. Give yourself a chance to heal any emotional wounds you might be currently experiencing. Find out what makes you happy, carry on with the project you’ve left behind, take the dance lessons you’ve always wanted to take or travel the world. Focus on yourself and the things that bring you joy. And this leads me to the last suggestion.
4. Get to know yourself better
Breakup gives you an opportunity to get to know yourself better. Maybe you have been neglecting yourself because your focus was always on your relationship. Many people make this mistake. I admit, I used to fall into this category. We should all remember to take care of ourselves first. When we are happy and fulfilled inward, then we can share our happiness with others too. When you break up with someone, see it as an opportunity to get to know yourself better and start learning how to put yourself first. It is not selfish, it’s self-love! I have written a blog about self love which you may find helpful. You can read it here: https://www.mysticbutterfly.co.uk/not-selfish-self-love/
A thought to keep!
“Worry less, smile more! Don’t regret, just learn and grow!”
Disappointments can be one of the greatest difficulties we sometimes face in life. Our minds often create expectations and if those expectations are not fulfilled, disappointment can happen. For many, disappointment can be a very challenging experience. This is completely understandable. The good news is, we can also view disappointment from a different perspective. For example: to learn many great lessons from it, which can help us on our personal and spiritual growth. I have a three useful suggestions, which can surely help you, if you choose to look at disappointment from a higher perspective.
Don’t take it personally
If something doesn’t work out the way you have planned or expected, try not to take it personally. I know it’s easier said than done, but it is possible. Some time ago I had to deal with quite a big disappointment. I met somebody and I thought this person really could be my dream soulmate. But one day just out of nowhere, this which I thought could be a future fairy tale ended without any warning. It hurt me greatly. I could not understand. I was asking myself the same question all over again: “What did I do wrong?” I could not find an answer. My soul has reminded me to stop blaming myself and to still my mind. One evening, after spending some time in meditation, I’ve heard my intuitive voice loudly and clearly: “You are a being of pure love and light currently expressing yourself as a human. You haven’t done anything wrong. Stop blaming yourself.” In that moment the veil has lifted. I could see the truth. I chose to see myself as a beautiful being of light and I chose to see this other person the same way. The disappointment was still present, but somehow more meaningless and not so powerful. I could see both of us in our real truth and that was extremely liberating. What I have learnt from this situation is to always remember my true identity and not to take other’s decisions and opinions too personally. If something doesn’t work out in your life the way you would like (a job, a relationship, an exciting opportunity), take a deep breath and come back to your truth. The situation you are experiencing right now, is purely somebody else’s opinion. It has nothing to do with you. Also trust and know, there is something so much better on the way to you soon.
Share your feelings
I’m naturally an introvert even though many people don’t perceive me that way. I mostly keep my thoughts and emotions to myself. I rarely want to bother somebody with anything I’m dealing with. I suffer in silence, because I rather share positive messages with the world than complaining about something. But lately I learnt something new. I started sharing my feelings with friends and family, and sometimes I briefly blog about them. This has transformed my life. When you share your worries or disappointments with others, it doesn’t always mean you are complaining. It can actually be quite therapeutic. It also helps to get another opinion (about your disappointment) from people who love you and care about you. Other people’s perspective can be very refreshing, and it can even have some fantastic solutions in store for you. If you have nobody to talk to, you can also write your feelings down in your journal or on a piece of paper. Let it all out and express your feeling rather than holding them back. This will definitely help you deal with your disappointments and any challenges you may be facing.
Focus on your goals
I believe there is a blessing in every disappointment. When we are disappointed we get a great opportunity to focus on ourselves and our goals. If the relationship with the person described above didn’t end, my life would definitely be heading a different way now. I’m not saying this is good or bad. It could be both. The Universe really works in a mysterious way. But ever since the fallout with this person, I worked so hard on myself and my creativity brought many fantastic opportunities into my life. I didn’t let the disappointment to control my life for too long, instead I redirected my focus on something very productive which is continuously bringing more and more blessings into my life. All I can say, I am grateful and I would not exchange a single day of this experience.
Last week I was going through an experience, which has made me feel quite down and emotional. The feelings I was going through were overwhelming and my energy became very low. I was looking for some ways how to pick myself up as quickly as possible to start feeling better. My soul has always been my greatest guide and once again it didn’t leave me stuck in those emotions for too long. After spending just a few minutes in meditation, my soul had a solution. This solution was more like a reminder of what I already knew, but briefly forgotten in the midst of an emotional overload. I would like to share it with you with a hope and a belief it will make a difference in your life when the low emotions strike.
Acceptance
The way I used to deal with my low emotions was trying to push them away as quickly as possible. My soul thought me to deal with them differently. Now, I accept and honour my feelings instead of pushing them away. I know I am allowed to feel the way I am feeling in a given moment. I know it is okay and I accept my emotions. So here is a suggestion for you: Next time you feel down, instead of trying to escape this state of mind, honour and accept your feelings. Don’t try to push them away, but co-operate with them. What we resist will always persist. Going with the flow and accepting those emotions as part of you is a very liberating experience. They are here to teach you something about yourself and to appreciate the good moments in life.
Shifting your vibration
After accepting your feelings, we can move onto shifting your vibration. What you focus on expands. Changing your focus from something negative to positive will change your experience. So what can you do? For example: You can read something inspirational. I always have my favourite books by my bedside table. The kind of easy-reading (motivational types of books). The types of books you can open at any page, and you know the message you discover will always inspire you. Give it a go and read couple of pages and see how you feel. To shift your vibration, you can also “plug in” and listen to your favourite song or watch a funny film. These are the things which almost always lift me up when I feel down.
Nature therapy
Nature has a wonderful healing effect. It can lift you up instantly. Nature is a great example of focusing on the present moment and that is where you want to be as much as possible. Go to the woods and involve all your senses on what you are experiencing. Focus on the colours of the trees, the stream of a river, the wind, the sun rays caressing your face. This way you will allow yourself to be fully aligned in the present moment, instead of focusing on how low you are feeling.
Exercise
Physical activity is a great way of replacing your low emotions with a good, positive vibes. What kind of exercise do you like? Running, yoga, dancing? The choice is yours. When I feel down and I finally decide to get myself together, I do some exercise. The effects are fantastic! My mood lifts instantly only after 10 minutes of dancing or practising yoga. I get excited about the things I love doing. It works every time. The creative part of myself returns to me and I often start writing or composing music soon after.
A thought to keep:
“Life is so much brighter when you focus on what truly matters!”
Are you a highly sensitive person? Do you often get affected by other people’s energy and their opinions? Do you feel tired even after a long night sleep? You are not alone. Many of us feel like this. I’m quite a sensitive person myself. I’m an empath, I easily feel people’s pain. I can relate to their feelings and I would always like to help and save everyone. I like sharing my kindness with others, but I had to learn how to protect my energy field, so their emotions don’t affect me anymore as they used to. I have a few techniques which I believe could help you. They involve some powerful visualisation in a slightly meditative state. If you would like to try them, I suggest to be open-minded and willing to explore the spiritual side of your being. The results are life-transforming.
Pure white light protection
One of the easiest and a very effective technique is surrounding your entire being with a pure white light. Centre in by taking a few, deep, cleansing breaths. Breathe in slowly and deeply in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. When you are ready, visualise an energy of pure, white light surrounding your entire being. This white light is protecting you and dissolving any negative energies you might have attracted towards you. Trust and know that nothing negative or disturbing can penetrate through this shield of white light without your permission. Any time you feel tired, demotivated, you are in fear or worried, shield yourself by this magical light.
Four mirrors ritual
Another powerful technique I use daily is a four mirrors ritual. Every morning when I wake up, I visualise a four tall mirrors surrounding me. One is placed in front of me, one behind me, one on my left and one on my right. These mirrors are not facing me, but they are turned away from me. I trust and know that anything negative, disturbing or of a low energy I attract towards myself throughout the day will be automatically turned away from me. I also visualise that what has reflected away from me is immediately transformed back to the purest, positive energy, so it cannot harm any other being (earthly or spiritual). I love this ritual, it’s simple and very effective.
Working with Archangel Michael
I work and communicate with angels and spirit guides on a daily basis. I understand, that not all of you may be open or understand much about spiritual realms yet and that’s okay. I believe we need to be ready first, and then some powerful secrets of this Universe will steadily be revealed to us. There is no point forcing our views upon others who aren’t ready and would probably reject them at this point. In this three-dimensional reality we perceive the world through our five senses (unfortunately, we haven’t been taught to perceive the world beyond that). So, if you are curious and interested, please carry on reading this final technique. Archangel Michael is one of my greatest guides. He is a powerful angel who guards against all effects of fear and more than that. Archangel Michael will always help us and protect us if you ask. How do we contact him? What I simply do is centre in and say a prayer. I take a few, deep, cleansing breaths. I breathe in through my nose and breathe out through my mouth. Once I feel calm and centred, I say either silently or aloud: “Archangel Michael I call upon you now. Please surround me by your beautiful blue protective light. Please help me to stay safe and secure at all times.” Know in your heart that nothing negative or disturbing can penetrate through this beautiful shield of light without your permission. Feel this powerful, healing energy surrounding you, and know that you are fully protected and supported at all times. When you finish your visualisation, thank the Archangel Michael for his help: “Archangel Michael, thank you for your assistance, help and support. And so it is!” Protect your beautiful energy by calling upon Archangel Michael for assistance and receive the protection you deserve.
There are many magical rituals you can practise to protect your energy field. I will be happy to share more of them with you in the future blogs. Get used to practising those first three on a daily basis and enjoy the wonderful benefits that they offer.
How do you feel when someone says no to you? Do you immediately fall into a victim zone, get angry or start feeling worthless? If so, that’s completely understandable. We all want things to go right for us and as smoothly as possible. We all want people to like us, to agree with us, to understand our point of view. But this is not always the case. Although as souls we all came here from the same source, which is a pure love and light, we are currently living in the physical bodies and having an individual experiences. On this earthly plane we experience our differences and that’s the beauty of being a human. There is so much beauty, love and peace around us, if we choose to see it. But of course, there are also challenges, difficult situations and people who don’t agree with us and sometimes reject us. Suddenly this experience on Earth can become a struggle. Therefore I’ve decided to blog about rejection today and show you how to start looking at it from a different perspective.
It’s the point of view
I have experienced rejection far too many times in my life. I have been told many things which hurt me greatly and it took me years to to let them go. Strong words like: I am not good enough, smart enough, I don’t have the right education or I didn’t come from a family with a certain status made me feel worthless and very upset. When I was younger I believed all those labels. I accepted all these lies within the whole level of my being. After a while when I realised I am the creator of my own reality, none of the above could control me anymore. I said to myself: “This is my life and only I decide what I want to do with it!” What other people think of you and tell you about you has nothing to do with you!It is purely their opinion. Don’t let anybody the power to control your life this way. Step out of the victim zone by rejecting rejections, labels and lies. Choose to see them only as someone’s point view, because that’s what they really are. Whether somebody rejects you at work or in a relationship, it doesn’t matter. Don’t dwell on it for too long. Your time here is very precious. Accept it and focus on what’s important to you.
New Chapter
Every rejection is a closure of one chapter of the book and the beginning of a new one. It’s time to turn the page and stop re-reading the one which has already ended. Start looking at rejection as a fresh, new start of something special and exciting. When one door closes, another one opens. We all have to go through certain situations in life, sometimes unpleasant, to learn more about ourselves and realise what really matters to us. Rejection is an opportunity to explore and learn more about you. Get to know yourself and begin the new chapter of your life by getting excited what is going to follow next.
Universal redirection
I believe rejection is a universal redirection. When someone says no to you, the higher power of the Universe is actually protecting you from a place which isn’t useful for your soul’s growth. If something doesn’t work out in your life the way you want, trust and know the Universe is redirecting you to something which is far better for your particular soul’s path. Every time something doesn’t work out in my life the way I planned it, I know there is something so much better coming my way. And there always is!
I thought to keep!
“When you give yourself permission to communicate what matters to you in every situation, you will have peace despite rejection or disapproval. Putting a voice to your soul helps you to let go of the negative energy of fear and regret!” ~Shannon L. Alder
Over the last few years, I’m realising more and more how much denial and scarcity I used to live in. At that time I didn’t accept myself for who I was, instead, I was always trying to be somebody I wasn’t. I believed I wasn’t good enough. Replacing my true self with all sorts of ‘false personas’ was painful, but it seemed like an easier choice at the time. After a long period of living in this confusion, I exhausted myself so deeply, I had troubles functioning in my daily life. I knew that sooner than later I needed to escape this unpleasant nightmare. When I finally made this decision, it was very liberating, but it also came with feelings of guilt and shame from my past choices. I began learning to accept myself for who I was, but those disturbing feelings became ever-present in my daily life. They were making me feel uncomfortable and often worthless. The magical shift occurred when I’ve made a choice to see myself as a beautiful human being and a soul beyond all the imperfections I believed in. I became willing to start accepting myself for who I really was one day at the time.
My healing journey still continues. As I’m aligning more and more with my true self every single day. Many old past wounds and some ugly truths are still coming up to the surface. I know they are asking to be dealt with, so they can finally be healed and transformed. They are often creeping into my life at the most unexpected times, in the moments when I think I’m finally on the right track. But now, no matter how unpleasant or scary they seem, I am fully committed to clear them up. I know I want to step into this world as a powerful spiritual teacher, and this is part of my healing and transformational journey and I’m grateful for it.
Sometimes in life, we reach a point where everything seems to be going against us. We may feel everything is falling apart. In the moments like this, it’s important to remember, that everything may actually be aligning to the right place. I know it’s scary, I know it’s uncomfortable and it hurts an awful lot. But it is part of your healing process, so you can finally be who you really came here to be. You may not understand the reason behind those challenges right now, but you can learn to trust this journey, even if you don’t understand it yet. This certainly is a path to your truth and many blessings which will be revealed to you when the time is right. It is one of the most liberating paths you can ever take.
So I forgive myself now! I know, I am slowly, but surely cleaning up my side of the street and the damage I caused to my beautiful self in the period of those thirty-something years living on this planet. I do know, I’m done with denying my true self. I’m done with being ashamed of my story and I’m ready to step into my light fully now~ no matter how long it may take! If I fall, I will try again and again for the rest of my life!
Dealing with guilt and shame isn’t always easy, but there are things you can do to start healing them and transforming them. I want to give you some tips I’ve been finding very helpful whilst dealing with those emotions. Remember you are not alone. All of us experience those feelings whether we admit it or not. We act from a place of fear and create many painful stories in our lives unnecessarily. Most of us just don’t talk about them. This is the reason I’ve decided to take the first step and begin this conversation. Let’s start honouring our true identity and let’s start learning how to be proud of it.
Forgive yourself
Guilt and shame are very low and draining emotions. You don’t need to be carrying those emotions around with you for the rest of your life. Choose to forgive yourself today! Forgiveness is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give to yourself. Stop being hard on yourself and try to accept yourself a little more today for who you are. You are constantly learning and growing. You are not the same person you were a year ago, a month ago. You are not even the same person you were ten minutes ago. Accept this truth, love yourself and respect yourself. Even for the ‘unwise’ choices, you might have made. Past is not here anymore and there is nothing which can be changed about it, only your approach towards the past can be changed. It taught you some powerful and important lessons. Try to accept what was and focus on the person you are becoming now. In the real truth, you are a beautiful, pure soul full of love and light.
Breathe
The process of releasing guilt and shame isn’t easy, but it’s definitely possible to let those feelings go. You can set yourself free from the chains you put around yourself. When the old feelings of guilt and shame float into my reality, I do this simple exercise: “I take a few deep, cleansing, conscious breaths. I visualise breathing in all the goodness and love this Universe has in store for me. When I breathe out, I visualise I am breathing out all that guilt and shame I’ve been thinking about. I know those feelings are not part of me anymore and I am willing to let them go!” I repeat this cycle of breathing for about five rounds (but you can do this for as long as you like) and I feel so much better afterwards with a clarity on my mind. Try it.
Focus on your dreams
What would you like to experience in your life? What goals and dreams do you still have? Here is a suggestion for you! When you are dealing with guilt and shame instead of worrying about those feelings, re-focus your attention to something worth-while such as concentrating on your dreams. This way you’ll start feeling excited about something which is important to you and your attention will shift from a negative vibration to a positive frequency. What you focus on always expands, so start focusing more on what you would like to create in your life.
A thought to keep!
You are a brave soul and I am so proud of you right now! Taking the first step towards your real truth is one of the most courageous decisions you will ever make in a world that tells you otherwise. Keep going and know it is never too late to start. Even if you fall off the path and it doesn’t matter how many times you do, you can always begin again and again. Set yourself on this new authentic journey and become the real you and finally free.
Many of you know how much I love nature. I love spending time in the woods being surrounded by beautiful tall trees. Nature always helps me to align with my true self~ with my soul. Nature is also a wonderful healer and a story teller. Albert Einstein said: “Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better.” These words are very profound and there is so much truth in them. I visit nature to listen to the whispers of the wind. I love the sound of the rivers and waterfalls. I listen to the singing birds, and enjoy feeling the warm rays of sunlight on my face. The grounded trees with their deep roots always remind me how strong and powerful we all really are. Nature nourishes my mind, body and soul.
Many of you might have heard of the nature elements- the Earth, Fire, Water and Air. These elements are very powerful and have an incredible healing effect. I believe we can enrich our lives physically and spiritually, when we learn about them and also how to work with them. I am going to give you a brief introduction to the four nature elements, and a few rituals which you can apply into your daily life to experience the wonderful magic they hold within.
THE EARTH ELEMENT: grounding and stability
What people want is to feel healthy, happy, safe and secure. They want to be taken care of and know that all is well. They want to experience a stable relationships with no drama involved. If you are currently not feeling a stability or safety in your life, if you live in a constant fear and worry, there is a possibility you might be ungrounded. This was the case for me. In my early twenties I struggled with anxiety for a number of years. I wasn’t trusting in the process of life. My every day life was filled with constant fear and worry. I was always worried what others thought of me. Instead of focusing on what can go right, I focused my precious energy on what could go wrong. I felt unsupported and ungrounded. After a long search, I discovered the healing powers of nature. I learnt to ground myself and to connect to my truth. When I sat down underneath a tree, and I felt the supporting energy and the connection to the planet Earth beneath me, I felt calmer and my mind got clearer. In those moments my entire being began healing. I realised, instead of fighting my feelings of anxiety, I learnt to accept them and co-operate with them. By grounding myself more often, I learnt to love and accept myself fully. I believe many people who suffer from anxiety or panic attacks are disconnected from the element of Earth. This also applies if somebody is a ‘natural worrier.’ They stopped trusting in themselves and in the process of life in general.
If this resonates with you, try this ritual: Next time you go to nature, intuitively find a nice, healthy tree. Sit underneath it and feel the connection to the Earth. Feel the Earth purifying your mind, body and your soul. Know that it is healing you and rejuvenating you. Know, that you are safe and secure at all times. Drink in the beauty of our planet Earth and absorb it through all your senses.
Also repeat this powerful affirmation: “I trust in the process of life to take care of me!”
THE FIRE ELEMENT: purification and transformation
Fire is a very powerful element. One of the easiest ways to experience this element is to tune into the sunlight. Get out to nature and allow the beautiful rays of sunlight to gently caress your face. I love sunrises and sunsets. Try to wake up before the sunrise when possible and experience the beauty and the healing powers of a rising sun. The same applies to sunsets.
Another great ritual I use almost on a daily basis is to light a candle. I’ve learnt from one of my beautiful teachers this ritual: When you light a candle, you immediately clear the space where you are in. Any negative or heavy energies will start slowly start dissolving and fading away. I do this before every meditation class I teach ~I light candles. I also burn (aka smudge) Sage and Palo Santo (Holy Wood), to cleanse the space and my energy field from any negative energies floating around. Incense sticks are also very popular. Fire purifies and transforms! Caution:When you work with the element of fire, always make sure there is nothing flammable around and when you finish, extinguish everything properly.
To deepen your connection with this element, use this affirmation: “I am letting go and dissolving anything which is no longer serving me!”
THE WATER ELEMENT: love, purity and flow of life
Do you feel emotionally drained? Do you feel exhausted just by getting off the phone with a friend who always complains? If so, you might be in a need of a Spiritual shower. What do I mean by this? An actual shower, but adding a spiritual visualisation to it. When you have a shower, visualise the element of water washing away any negative energies, worries and fears from your energy field/ your aura. As the water is running down your body, it is clearing and purifying your entire being. This water goes down the drain and all these unwanted energies are leaving with it.
Another powerful ritual which involves the water element is to go to nature and watch the rivers flow. This also has a wonderful purifying effect and brings clarity to your mind. Breathe deeply and just relax. The last but not least example is the power of the Rain. Rain does not only clear the air, but the Earth also experiences lots cleansing and healing which is beneficial to us all. Visualise this cleansing taking place every time it rains.
To deepen your connection to the water element use this affirmation: “Life is unfolding as it supposed to.”
THE AIR ELEMENT: intuition and learning
The element of air can move away anything we want to let go of. I have an exercise I practice in the morning (of course, if I’m not somewhere around the world in an air conditioned hotel room where I can’t open the windows). When I’m at home, I open my bedroom window and breathe deeply. I take a few cleansing breaths in through my nose and out through my mouth. I visualise they are clearing and purifying my mind, body and spirit. I immediately feel more awake and energised. My auric field also gets purified and cleansed.
The final ritual I’m going to share with you includes the power of the Wind. On a windy day, I sometimes get outside for a few minutes and open my arms very wide. I let the element of air to blow away any negative energies, worries and fears I may be carrying in my energy field.
An affirmation to deepen the connection with the air element I often use is this: “With every deep, cleansing breath I take, I feel more energised and empowered!”
A thought to keep: “Air moves us, Fire transforms us, Water shapes us, Earth heals us.”
We as human beings can be very judgemental and critical of ourselves. Many of us think we are not good enough, we don’t do enough, we compare ourselves to others and think we should be somewhere we are currently not. We believe when we gain certain credentials, acquire some possessions and many other things which are important to us, then the real life starts and we will be finally happy. This way we are not only postponing our true happiness to some future event, but we are also becoming edgy, feeling uneasy and often exhausted. We are not kind to ourselves, instead we are hard on ourselves. I speak for myself here. I happen to be a perfectionist. I like to have things done certain way and I often have high expectations of many things I do. But I have learnt many valuable lessons from my perfectionism. I know, when I go overboard with it, I need to take a step back and tune back into my soul. My soul always gives me the answers I need to know and reminds me to be kinder to myself. I learnt to accept that it is okay not to be perfect all the time. I learnt to pause, take a deep breath and focus on what really matters in my life (this can mean different things to different people). I have a few ideas which I would like to share with you. They helped me along my journey and I hope they will inspire you to start being kinder to yourself today.
Praise yourself
Instead of being critical of yourself, tell yourself how well you are doing. Here is an example. Look in the mirror and say: “I am so proud of you! You have done so well today!” If something doesn’t work out the way you hoped it would, be kind to yourself and say: “You have done your best today and you have learnt some new lessons. Next time, you’ll do so much better! You can do it. Don’t give up!” Supporting yourself every day is very important. I support and praise myself on a daily basis. It empowers me. Also remember, you are allowed to make mistakes in life. Sometimes you can take five steps forward, another time two steps back. Know this and be kind to yourself. You are always doing the best you can.
Accept compliments
Many people don’t know how to accept compliments from others. If somebody tells you: “I love your hair or You have done a fantastic job today!” What is your response? Do you reply: “No, do you really think so? I think I soon need to visit a hairdresser.” Or: “Ohh, no, it was just a pure luck!” A better response to both of those questions would be: “Thank you so much, you are so kind to say so!” I have learnt this powerful lesson a long time ago. Every time someone pays me a compliment, my response is always short and simple: “Thank you very much!” I learnt to love myself and I learnt to accept compliments with gratitude. It’s an act of unconditional love and all of us deserve it. Be kinder to yourself and accept compliments from others. It will not only increase your self-esteem, but it will also teach you to love and appreciate yourself more.
Listen to your body and soul
Being kind to yourself also means listening to your body and soul. Become kinder to yourself by paying attention to the messages your body and your soul are constantly giving you. When you feel tired, take a break. When you feel you need a vacation, organise it. It doesn’t have to be far away or expensive. It can be a weekend break at the mountains nearby or a day out in nature. Do you lack energy? Think about your latest diet and make some adjustments. Also exercise. Any kind of exercise is always good. And you don’t even have to go to the gym. You can exercise at home for just 10 minutes a day or go for a walk. Listen to your body, when it’s telling you to sleep. Try having a goodnight sleep as much as possible. When you are well rested also your performance at work will be a prove of that. Look after yourself and listen to your body and your soul. They are always talking to you. Our minds often get very loud, so we don’t hear the important messages they want to share.
So these are just few simple suggestions how to start being kinder to yourself. Start today, you definitely won’t regret it.
